Antón García Abril - Obras para canto y cuarteto de cuerda

Antón García Abril- Luz de tu Interior

When describing the meanderings of the creative process in his songs, Antón García Abril has often demonstrated that both the feelings expressed in the text and its constituent elements determine the emergence of a central idea and original genesis which will be the basic sono- rous material for the development and configuration of the musical work. Notwithstanding, the figure of the composer always governs the poem, taking liberties, intervening and discovering unexplored dimensions of the poetical material.

Cervantinas

What better way to celebrate the work of this great genius of Spanish literature than by hearing musical renderings of some of his most beautiful writings by renowned contemporary Spanish composers? To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes on the 22nd of April 1616, soprano Lucía Castelló and pianist Alejandro Zabala have taken a journey through the Cervantine oeuvre that is as multifaceted as it is beautiful.

Canciones para Platero

This recording commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Platero y yo [Platero and I], the best-known work by Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881- 1958), winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1956. Included in the musical repertoire are songs based on texts from the books of poetry written during his so-called “moguereña” period – the years from 1906 to 1912 – during which time Juan Ramón’s idea for Platero was in its gestation phase.
